Mosque of Nature
Egypt
The Mosque of Nature is a visionary project located in the heart of Cairo’s dense urban environment. Developed through a participatory process involving botanists, students, migrants, and local residents, it will function not only as a place of worship but also as a community center, fostering connections between locals and newcomers.
The mosque will be surrounded by regenerative agricultural gardens that produce both food and natural building materials. The prayer hall features a steel-vaulted structure, repurposed from old greenhouse arches. Interwoven with plants that filter sunlight, they create a serene, shaded atmosphere. Reclaimed limestone from the nearby neighborhood will be used for the solid structures.
